Sometimes when you are going for the cutting armbar from the bottom your opponent pushes down low and presses towards the ground. Perhaps you have not placed your knee in as a protection against this defense…but no problem, you can move straight into the Kimura! Watch as I demonstrate this move, I think you will like it. Countering the SINGLE LEG Takedown Into the KIMURA Trap!
The single leg takedown is a great takedown technqiue and maybe the most used in grappling. But there are a number of great counters and this particular one places you into a fantastic kill position. I use it often and my students have used it, with positive results, in competitions. Take a look and give it a try. Let me know how it goes.

Starting from knees: TAKEDOWN/ARMBAR combo!
In Jiu-Jitsu we often start from our Knees. But this technique works from the knees or from standing. Does not matter. Get the throw, if it doesn’t work…move straight into an Armbar. It’s incredibly effective and can end the roll/match within seconds. A couple of my students did exactly that in a recent competition. Check out the video and try it yourself on the mat. Mau-Mau has won the Worlds Masters once, the Pan-Ams Masters 3x, and first in the IBJJF Ranking No-Gi Masters for all divisions. Bernardo Faria is a 5x World Champion. Bernardo started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Juiz de Fora – MG, Brazil at the age of 14 in 2001. After receiving the Black Belt from his first instructor Ricardo Marques in 2008, He moved to Sao Paulo to join BJJ legend Fabio Gurgel and his Alliance team.
