Two counters to the double under guard pass: the crab choke and a modified Mir lock using the legs.
This arm wrap sequence has a ton of options from closed guard. From chokes to locks to sweeps to back takes. This is one of my favorite subs here, but you can check my video on Lots if Submissions from Closed Guard to see many more.
Back when yours truly was a purple belt, I learned an overhook closed guard trap series from Jimmy Harbison. The attacks that flows from it were a mir lock, a kimura and a triangle, but the execution on the mir lock always eluded me.
I couldn’t hit it consistently.
But recently, I had a revelation, and the success shot through the roof.

Here are a couple of interesting options for dealing with the bottom opponent’s knee shield, which can lead to some cool submission opportunities. With the right timing and response, you can set yourself up with some great options for leg attacks and possibly a Mir lock.
