Charlie Cooper has always been one of my favorite people. The grandson of John Cooper, creator of the iconic Mini-Cooper, Charlie has every reason to be arrogant and entitled, and yet he couldn’t be further from either of those things.

Hard-working, kind and genuine, Charlie is the epitome of what a true jiu jitsu player should represent.

Having suffered two career-ending knee injuries, in both professional rugby and amateur jiu jitsu, he still manages to stay involved in the sporting community and keeps pushing his personal boundaries every day.

Combat Jiu Jitsu Worlds is this weekend and I’m ultra pumped to be involved once again! I’ll be doing commentary alongside my man TJ Desantis. In anticipation, I’m gonna be breaking down some footage of a few of our combatants.

This was an INSANE matchup between Sheridan Moran and Nick Honstein from the Combat Jiu Jitsu tournament at EBI 11.

The regulation period was fast paced and it was back and forth. The OT was totally up for grabs. Watch what happens when Nick Honstein grabs the Twister and goes for the finish!

Slick Deep Half Counter that I originally saw from @billthegrillcooper on his Deep Half Guard Killer set. I’m using a different grip here. We call this the Pretzel Grip ? It’s a great way to create the Marcelotine style attack without the flexibility sometimes required through the shoulder. Hope you guys enjoy this. Nao tem como negar que o Mundial é mais dificil e mais cobiçado que o Brasileiro. 
Eu sei que o nosso patriotismo tende a querer valorizar mais o nosso pais do que os outros mas quando falamos de jiu-jitsu, nao podemos achar que um brasileiro tera mais peso/dificuldade do que um campeonato mundial.

Porém… Nas faixas coloridas temos muitos atletas duríssimos que nao tem condiçoes financeiras e nem visto para viajar para a America…
Entao eu diria que nas faixas coloridas o Brasileiro é bem parelho ao mundial. Podendo, em algumas categorias, ser ate mais dificil e volumoso que o mundial…
