In today’s video I’m going to show you one of my favorite rolling back takes in BJJ that you can setup from side control.
This is one of my favorite ways to take back mount in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. And recently, in one of my vlogs I got a question about this technique since I used it in during a roll that was filmed. So I’ll show you that rolling clip from the Costa Rica video and then show you how to set it up from side control in case you want to give it a try during your next roll in the gym.

Also, watch towards the end where I show a sneaky detail for catching more rear naked chokes. This is a simple adjustment I add on to the end of my back takes when I’m drilling in the gym and has made a big difference to my ability to finish chokes in competitions and high level rolls.
Thanks for watching!

In today’s video I share a simple breathing exercise to try the next time you’re rolling in your BJJ gym. It’s a simple idea that can help you slow down your pace, not be so pazzy (if you’re a white belt) and even help you out last someone else.
I started doing this type of breathing back in 2018 after reading a couple of books that got recommended to be from a friend. And initially it was a struggle to breathe in the way I talk about in the video. But now after doing it for several years it’s much more natural and I’ve noticed it’s given me a clear advantage of my opponents in competitions and some of my training partners in the gym.
Hope the video is helpful to you. And good luck with trying the exercise the next time you roll.

Recently on the Chewjitsu Podcast we had Rickson Gracie Black Belt Henry Akins on. You can listen to the podcast in full using the link below.
During the podcast there were several amazing nuggets of information about training practices and techniques. 1 of which is something I do all the time, force my students to do and is something Henry said Rickson would do all the time.
This particular style of rolling is a great way to boost creativity with technique and further develop your own systems of BJJ. And I believe if you roll like the way I explain in the view you’ll improve your BJJ techniques faster as there is focus to your training.
Hopefully after watching the video you’ll understand what I mean and have some ideas for your own training.
