Get Off The Ground With These 6 Techniques
This video offers 6 of the most common and difficult positions one might encounter in a fight when on the ground vs a striking opponent. These are the some of the best options I have learned and used in such situations.
This is a video for people who I often hear say things like “I just want to know enough to avoid or get off the ground in a fight.” I hear this a lot from people, primarily stand-up striking practitioners, regarding learning jiu-jitsu or wrestling. They don’t want to extensively train in grappling arts, and only want to learn those techniques that will help them avoid being taken down or help them get out of a ground grappling situation.
I don’t think anyone wants to be in a fight longer than they have to. I think even grapplers want to exist the grappling range (and fight all together) as soon as possible. But there are no shortcuts. These techniques from this video must be trained to a level of proficiency and drilled with intensity if they are ever expected to be performed in real-life encounters.
Train safely and smart. Thanks for watching and please like, subscribe and share.

Shawn Williams Bear Trap Series Part 1: Bear Trap Entry From Half Guard
Here is a simple technique that can drastically change your game. The bear trap can come from many different scenarios. In this video and often the easiest way to get to the trap, we look at the basic entry from a half butterfly hook. This is a fairly quick overview of the technique, If there is a desire in the comments, I can post a much more thorough version… just let me know 🙂 Enjoy!

Open Guard Advice for Beginners
The open guard is an essential position in BJJ, but it can also be very confusing for beginners. In this video I show you the two most common errors people make when they start incorporating this position into their game.
Here’s a checklist of the most common forms of open guard: https://www.grapplearts.com/a-glossary-of-guards-part-2-the-open-guard/
And here’s a breakdown of the Tripod Sweep technique I mentioned in the video above: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p-2qBPL9tM
Jiu-Jitsu Self-Defense | Gun Disarms If You Have No Other Options
This is an extremely dangerous situation that should be obviously avoided at all costs. Should you ever find yourself at gunpoint, do everything reasonably possible to accommodate the aggressor.
However, if the situation calls for it, it is best to be prepared through training of solid techniques like these for gaining control of the weapon. These are some of the most fundamentally solid methods for disarms I have ever trained that I am sharing here.
Train smart and safely, and do everything you can to avoid ever being in situations like the ones I reference in this video.

How to Beat Someone Better Than You
“How can I beat someone better than me?” I get this question a lot and you might be wondering the same thing too. The answer is that you have to find at least one area, either technical or physical, where you are better than he is. In the video I give lots of examples of what this might look like on the mats.

BREAKING GRIPS IN BJJ INTO YOUR TAKEDOWN WITH TRAVIS STEVENS
Don’t make a mistake when standing getting your sleeve caught. Fighting from losing positions is never fun. When doing BJJ it can be difficult to grip fight due to guard pulling. But it’s still an important part and should always be trained. When breaking grips you want to make sure you always have two hands on the gi to start. That’s going to help you attack right off the grip break which is when your opponent is most variable for a takedown.
