It is not uncommon to have completed the sweep discussed in the previous video a couple of times – to suddenly have your rolling partner counter/push against it. No problem. Use that energy to your advantage and sweep the other direction. Straight into a footlock (or alternative a relatively easy pass). It’s not hard, it just takes a little practice. Try it out on the mat and let me know how it goes.

Part 2 of 5: The Incredibly EFFECTIVE Overhook X Guard SWEEP!
Continuing on with the Overhook x-guard series…we now look at a very basic sweep from this position. It might be basic but is sure is effective. Quick to execute against your opponent and opens up many submission opportunities. This is a taster and I think you will like it. Take a look. Try it on the mat. And let me know what you think.
How to Maintain 100% Control During Submission Attacks
Just because you’re going for a submission doesn’t mean that you need to let go of your opponent and potentially give up on a good position if the attack fails. In this video Rob Biernacki and I go over the steps to maintaining total control over your opponent all the way through a position, using the example of an S Mount Armbar from Mount and a Heel Hook Attack from the 411 position to illustrate the principles we’re talking about. I think you’ll like this one!
And if you’re a fan of this style of teaching and would like more then you owe it to yourself to check out my book on BJJ. It’s called ‘The Roadmap for BJJ’ and it’s available for free with zero obligation at http://www.grapplearts.com/book

HOW To Develop CRAZY GRIP Strength For BJJ!
Grip strength is absolutely one of the most important attributes in BJJ. And developing them is not something that requires any super human athleticism. In this video I discuss HOW To Develop CRAZY GRIP Strength For BJJ and you too will be able to do it.
HOW to STOP the Hitchhiker Escape – Every time!
You might remember in a recent video where I discussed the hitchhiker escape. If you missed that video, I highly recommend viewing that first…
But like everything in Jiu Jitsu there are counters to counters to counters…and here is one. How to stop the hitchhiker escape. Watch the video carefully and find a way to stop the hitchhiker escape right in its tracks! It really works, try it on the mat. And let me know how it goes…
Two Hacks to GET THE SWEEP When You Are CLOSE But Not Quite There!
In this video I discuss Two Hacks to GET THE SWEEP When You Are CLOSE But Not Quite There. And how often does that happen? so much of Jiu Jitsu is getting close but it’s the final yards that are so difficult. Your partner is defending – so it’s not like drilling. That’s where these hacks come in. They help you leap over those last yards. Check out this video, give it a try on the mat and let me know how it goes…
An EASY HACK to Finish CROSS CHOKES Even With CRAP Grips!
We have all done it. We don’t always get the best grips when we go for the cross chokes but we go for them anyway! It’s a common mistake and it is of course very frustrating. But what if there was a way to finish that choke – even when you have crap grips?! Well in this video I discuss how to do just that. And the great part…is that it really works and is super strong. Watch this video. Give it a try on the mat and let me know how it goes.
The BEST Way to CUT Weight!
A topic that comes up a lot for people that compete. There are better ways and worse ways to cut weight. Seriously dehydrating yourself is not one of them!
Rolling out of Heel Hooks (Craig Jones and Lachlan Giles)
Craig Jones and Lachlan Giles both reached the semi-finals of EBI.
The UNSTOPPABLE Spider Guard SWEEP!
The UNSTOPPABLE Spider Guard SWEEP! Wow guys, this sweep is so simple and effective. With a small amount of time and practice you will be hitting this 8 or 9 times out of 10. There are a couple of tricks and techniques that you need to know to execute this sweep effectively. Watch closely and try it on the mat. Let me know how you go.
The AWESOME LEG Lasso LEG BAR Entrance!
The AWESOME LEG LASSO Into LEG BAR Entrance…we looked at something similar recently – the lasso into catapult sweep, which is one of my favorites. If you have the time take a look at that video. This one uses a similar process but moves into a leg bar. Which is a brilliant submission and really hard to stop. It’s actually much easier than it might sound. Take a look at the video. Give it a try on the mat and let me know how you go!
The Hitchhiker ESCAPE From An AMRBAR!
A ‘must have’ in the BJJ arsenal. The hitchhiker escape from the Armbar. This technique can quickly turn a very bad day for you into a very bad day for your opponent. And it really is rather simple and the mechanics when you think about it – rather straight forward. The great thing is that many Jiu Jitsu competitors either forget about the escape (and hence the counter) or just have not seen it at all. Give it a try on the mat. Let me know how you do. I hope you love it.
