In today’s Bjj technique video I show you 4 fundamental full guard sweeps that every White Belt should learn as early as possible. I call them fundamental sweeps because they’re essential techniques that have useful movements which can be used in a myriad of positions in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. And I say that every BJJ White Belt should learn them early because they can be used to setup combos and other attacks that will serve them well until they’re a Black Belt.
For instance the scissor sweep is a good basic sweep that is great for learning to open your guard and progress to open guards later on in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The bump sweep is great as a sweep but also is incredibly effective off-balancing technique that can lead to lots of other options in Brazilian Jiujitsu. And each closed guard sweep in this video has the same qualities to it.
Hope the video is useful to you and your training.
Thanks for watching.

In today’s Chewy ramble I answer a cardio question from a young BJJ White Belt who represents a common type in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. He’s someone who was a bit of a couch potato who then decided to get into Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (after watching videos and hearing podcasts on it). So far, it’s been great!
But he says he gets exhausted whenever he rolls and wants some tips on how to improve his cardio for rolling. He says he can’t train more BJJ with his schedule. So he’s looking for cardio training he can do off that mat, that will support his training on the mat.
In the video I’ll lay out 2 simple types of exercises to incorporate off the mat to support your rolling.
Hope the video is helpful!

In today’s video I answer a question from a White Belt who’s new to BJJ and wants to go super hard all the time. He says he’s 300lbs and done some other grappling like combatives and wrestling and started doing Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. He also says his default setting is just hard and intense but his coaches are telling him to relax a little.
In this video I share some ideas about going hard, and when I would consider the right and wrong times to do so.
Hopefully if you’re somewhat newer this video will be useful to you if you’re struggling with a similar issue.
