Dennis Smith one of the Decatur purple belts hates when he gets submitted by the punch choke.

Today’s Brazilian Jiu-jitsu submission technique video was filmed while I was down in Costa Rica. You’ll hear the faint hum of the fan in the background as it stays at a toasty temperature there year round.
In the video I show a punch choke from a side control position that connects directly together with the Kimura and Armlock sequences I was showing during the BJJ camp.
Anytime I have an arm attack I always like to find a way to connect it with a choke as well since the way you defend the two is usually very different. Enjoy the BJJ technique. I hope it helps.

Using the double wrist lock to set up kata gatame and punch choke combos. These choke sequences and more will be focused on in my upcoming @jiu_jitsu_x instructional.
3 North/South Transition Finishes: Darce Choke, Punch choke from north / south and no gi baseball bat choke. Not the easiest to see, but these are all great subs to hit in transition from side control to north / south and back.

The maxim in Jiu-Jitsu is typically “Position Before Submission” which is generally the best advice. However, when you understand the rules well enough, sometimes you can break them with successful results. In this video, I show about 4 exceptions to this rule in the form of submissions that work from inside the opponent’s guard. I hope you like these, and be sure to let me know in the comments what other subs from inside the guard or other bad positions you know of and like.

• Rear Naked Choke / Short Choke
• Guillotine: Standing, Guard, High-Elbow & Arm-In
• Arm Triangle with Darce and Anaconda Variations
• Triangle Choke
• Epstein Choke / No Gi Ezekiel
•
I hope you like these and get some usefulness out of them. Let me know in the comments if there are any that should be included in this list as well. Thank you as always for watching!

Many people believe that the mount is dead for no gi. I couldn’t possibly disagree more! In my opinion, this is the strongest position in no gi. But because many practitioners are so accustomed to the attacks that are reliant on the gi, they fall apart when the get to no gi.
Or, best case scenario they still have a solid arm triangle, but very little else.
Fear no more! Here are 3 no gi siubmissions from Mount, none of which are the Arm Triangle (kata gatame or side choke).
1. Guillotine
2. Punch Choke or Ezekiel Choke
3. Mounted Triangle Choke
