Eu tenho algumas, e elas podem mudar de acordo com o evento, mas há uma constante que sempre uso:

Consciência de posição ⚡️ Velocidade de reação

Essa frase é um gatilho para me manter alerta e consciente tanto do meu posicionamento quanto do meu oponente, além de estar pronto para apertar o gatilho rápido sempre que uma janela de oportunidade se abrir. Muitas vezes, essas janelas fecham rapidamente, e as chances passam.

Se você não aperta o gatilho quando deveria, pode ser por um dos três motivos:

1️⃣ Falta de Consciência de Posição
Isso acontece quando surge uma situação nova ou inesperada, ou porque você não percebeu algo no seu posicionamento ou no do oponente.

2️⃣ Consciência sem Execução
Você reconhece a oportunidade, mas não age por um dos dois motivos:
• Físico: Você está exausto e não teve a velocidade de reação necessária.
• Mental: Esse é o mais comum. Você reconheceu a oportunidade, mas hesitou, pensando nos riscos ou se aquilo daria errado, e acabou travando.

Consciência de posição ⚡️ Velocidade de reação são interdependentes, especialmente em alto nível, onde é essencial identificar constantemente essas janelas de oportunidade para executar seus movimentos.

Nesse clipe, mostro um exemplo desse conceito em prática com uma finalização de 12 segundos no primeiro round da categoria Master 5/Pena. Esse ataque, que chamo na minha academia de triângulo sniper, envolve reconhecer a brecha, mirar e executar com precisão. 🎯

Attack Style Passing typically refers to threatening a submission in order to pass the guard. Sometimes this is higher risk than other times, but the effectiveness of this idea comes from the necessary response of the guard player creating space or opportunity in their reaction, allowing you to pass, potentially with a submission already working. Here are some of my favorite examples.

A good guard should make the top player feel as if they’re navigating a minefield. They shouldn’t be able to defend without presenting an opportunity for a follow-up attack. Here we look at basic to intermediate straight arm attack strategies and subsequent chain attacks depending on how the defender responds.

Floating Pins, or Uki Gatame, are a category of pinning in Judo and Jiu-Jitsu that are versatile and powerful. This is due to the combination of stability and mobility they offer the top player. Knee on belly is probably the most famous example of this style of position, but other variations exist and are also very useful for eliciting submission opportunities. This transition from defended arm bar to triangle is a popular combo, and these little details help with its success. Wedging the bicep and ratcheting the grip on the setup help to maintain control and cut out space needed to escape for the opponent.

Shin to shin guard is very popular in sport jiu-jitsu. In this video we show a basic way of regaining closed guard or even better, getting a simple triangle choke setup. There is also a very simple and effective sweep from this position.

There are several issues that can make finishing the Darce choke difficult for people. A common problem that individuals will state is having too short of arms, or similarly, their opponent is too thick in the shoulders and upper body.

The way we address Darce issues in this video is by, not only showing details for improving the execution of the strangle, but also showing alternatives to enhance or combine with Darce attempts and failures. We explore guillotine modifications, anaconda dilemmas and no gi baseball bat choke variations, for these reasons. Hope you enjoy!

Some people don’t exactly have the longest legs, with that being said, in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu the Triangle Choke is known as a technique for “lengthy” grapplers exclusively.

This isn’t true.

In this video I’ll go over finishing the Triangle as someone who’s not lengthy, both for traditional Triangle chokes and the Mounted Triangle.

The big focus will be on getting an angle to secure a tighter choke, plus a couple extra small details that can make or break your finishing ability.

I’ll also talk about some of the common issues us short legged grapplers have with finishing the triangle and how to optimize this technique for our own Jiu-Jitsu Game.

Hopefully these details help you finish more triangles in Jiu-Jitsu (or even MMA), both from bottom and mount.
