Single Leg and Double Variation
Johnny Bedford discusses setting up the single, running the pipe and what to do when their leg slips out during the initial takedown
Do This BEFORE You Pull Guard!
Faking a guard pull can set up your takedowns, and faking a takedown can set up your guard pull. Here’s Elliott Bayev breaking down this concept for you!
One of the Best White Belt Takedowns to Learn
This has always been one of the first takedowns I will show any white belt. It works incredibly well. The takedown is completely dependent upon your snapdown.
You are waiting for them to posture up and then you go. This takedown is great for the white belt level and a lot of my students have hit this takedown in competition.
If they don’t react to the snap down it is easy to just snap them into the turtle than take the back.
You don’t always have to do a double leg ether. This is the perfect setup for many other takedowns as well.

3 Ways to Set Up the Double-Leg Takedown in MMA
There’s been tons of requests for more wrestling/grappling videos, so I asked my buddy Vince “The Anomaly” Cachero to teach some techniques. In this video, Vince breaks down 3 of his favorite ways to set up the double-leg takedown from an offensive and defensive standpoint, as well as against a southpaw/mirrored stance.

EASIEST TAKEDOWN YOU CAN LEARN – PERFECT FOR PEOPLE WITH NO TAKEDOWN EXPERIENCE (NO RISK)
Easy takedowns are the best takedowns. The best part about this takedown for BJJ players is there is no risk. Even if you miss this basic takedown there is no way for your opponent to counter or for you to end up in a bad position. Timing is key to this takedown
I have not showed a takedown in quite some time.
The drop single is my favorite takedown of them all but! Since hurting my knee I can not shoot in as well. So this takedown has slowly became my favorite.
It is really easy to hit once you get the timing. That is why I recommend doing the Rhythm drill over and over.
Also if you don’t hit this takedown it sets you up for other takedowns. It also makes your opponents start looking for it than you switch it up on them by moving to something else.
Sometimes I will bait it three times or so than go for a drop single to switch it up.

Double Leg Takedown – Attack and Destroy – Ben Henderson and AJ Agazarm at Polaris Pro 6

JIU-JITSU TAKEDOWNS FOR BEGINNERS – ARM DRAG FOR BJJ – TRAVIS STEVENS
One of the hardest things to do is take people down in jiu-jitsu. This takedown is easy to drill and effective from white belt jiu-jitsu to black belt level competitions. Mixing a little bit of wrestling into you BJJ can really help not only the takedowns but also your ground game. Hitting arm drags from the floor can also be super effective.

How To Deal With Stiff Arm Defense In Jiu-Jitsu: Arm Spinner Takedown + Armbar
One of the biggest challenges when starting on the feet in jiu-jitsu is dealing with an opponent’s stiff arms that they use to keep you from executing various takedowns. However, there are many methods that allow us to take advantage of such a situation. Joel Gerson, a judo and jiu-jitsu black belt, shows his way of effectively surprising his opponent with an exuberant takedown and a quick submission.
