In competition class I often stop class outta no where and put two people in the cirlcle. I allow students to coach them, talk shit, cheer. I want it to simulate competition as much as possible.
Here we have Bert, a blue belt training for approximately 1 year with no wrestling experience, against Tyler, a Pan American medalist and recent brown belt. (Tyler is in the purple rash guard)
I try not to coach them when they are in the middle, I want them to simply get after it on their own. After I will break down exactly what they did wrong or right.
Tyler has beautiful Jiu-Jitsu, and Bert can absolutely do well in the trials 2 years from now.
The most entertaining matches are my ladies, but sometimes they go too hard so I won’t post. 🤣🤣

People never think you need self defense, until it’s too late. She is lucky she is alive. This is a perfect example of the dangers in this world. She wasn’t doing anything besides minding her own business. Jiu-Jitsu can absolutely save your life.

Reposted from @sensei_freddy This exactly happens here in Miami a fees days ago at a bus stop! Crazy dude tried to straggle her! Good thing for the civilian that move in to help, but a special props to the victim who continue to fight, and while on her back, she continued to provide distance management by using her legs to keep the attacker away. This is a self defense #jiujitsu technique that is taught at every Jiujitsu school. I seriously hope she is ok, and I would love to meet her, perhaps even get her to train with either myself or a recommend a school near her #elprofe🥋
