The Kimura is a great attack and I’ve got many videos showing many different ways to grab them. But in this video, I take you over how to counter a Kimura attempt when you are not within your opponent’s guard but when you are in a more dominant position – side control. It happens often particularly when you are up against a Kimura guy or gal – they just see Kimuras from every angle. But with this neat little counter. You will be in great shape. This is a fantastic little submission chain of techniques that I like to teach from my white belts and beyond. The Headlock Control Series. Now when you pass your opponents guard. To get the ‘headlock control’ you will need both the head and the arm. Just getting the head in control only works on your baby brother when you were playfighting as kids. But that’s only the beginning. There are many variables at play and to get that submission on an experienced grappler, you will need to use all of them and in unison. Now for part 3 of my cradle attack series and I have saved one of my favourites until the last. This is a really neat little submission and I found it difficult to find the origin of the name. One thing that you learn very quickly when you enter a Jiu-Jitsu Academy for the first time and start rolling with experienced practitioners. You get tapped quickly, often and seemingly with ease. It’s frustrating and massively ego depleting. So much so that very few attend the next class. That’s a pity. Because, Jiu-Jitsu, if you allow it – will change your life for the positive. No matter who you are and what your life circumstances. Now having said that being tapped is no fun. Particularly if you don’t know why. Shin to shin is a really cool guard and I think it has become increasingly necessary as many grapplers are incredibly proficient at placing one leg between yours and then sliding their knee through in a knee through pass. This might happen on say, 70% of the time. So, it’s a good idea to think about a way to prevent this. One such way is to place your shin against theirs. In this video, I discuss how to take this shin to shin position and move into an attacking position. It’s a lot easier than it looks. There is reward with careful viewing guys.
