This choke will put people to sleep for a couple of big reasons. Firstly, it’s just a solid and powerful choke from a mechanical standpoint. Secondly, it’s deceptive and usually most effective from “bad” positions. Be safe training with this one!

It’s extremely versatile, not only because of all the routes to applying it, but also because of how well it combines and the back-up plans available from it. This video is all about how to set up some dominant controls from side control, minimize the ability for the opponent to escape and create some submission opportunities that are extremely hard to defend. This deceptive choke is a powerful tool when you realize your guard is inevitably passed. Just calm down…”Anti-Fundamentals” is just a way of saying these violate a lot of fundamental principles we are taught as rules about positions and submissions. These are definitely not go-to subs and they are inherently dangerous, but they are also very sneaky and unexpected. These also make some great Hail Marys for when you’re losing or have lost position and you are desperate. Hope you like them!

I share how I thought I invented the baseball bat choke from the bottom. I had a lot of success with this move during my younger competitive years. I’m sure someone else had done the move before me but at least I can say I somewhat discovered it. Maybe you’ll like this variation.
