“Chewy, what is your favorite book?” I get this question regularly. Many of oyu watching the videos know I love to read and so you’re looking for recommendations. And I give some from time to time on the channel.

But whenever I’m asked what my favorite book is, it’s hard to say. I read for lots of different reasons. Enjoyment, improving my business and my own self-development.

That said, I probably have a favorite type of book, which I talk about in the video. I usually have 2-3 books going at any given time. Just like you might have 2-3 shows going on netflix. I’ve got that with books. Each one giving me something different. And the type of book I talk about in the video always has a place in my daily reading queue.

In today’s video I share an idea on a simple tip to hold mount in BJJ. The idea is that holding mount too tight can get you in trouble. So, at certain times you’ll need to loosen up at just the right time to allow the person underneath of you to expose themselves.

So in the video I’ll give you some ideas of when you should be tight in mount and when you should loosen up.

If you’ve been losing mount position in your Brazilian Jiu-jitsu training or competitions, then hopefully this is useful to you.

In today’s video I share some ideas on how I do belt promotions at my BJJ gym. To illustrate the answer for the person asking the question I share a story about 2 college wrestlers who trained at my gym. 1 got his Blue Belt while the other didn’t. There’s a lot of factors that led to this. But 1 in particular was the reason for withholding the promotion from 1 and then giving it to the other.

Keep in mind, at the time, both people were able to hang with a Black Belt in top positions.

In today’s BJJ Q&A video I share a quality that all of my best BJJ students share. I’m doing this in response to a question I received from a White Belt who’s been training for BJJ and is ready to quit because he’s not getting promoted.

Now obviously, this isn’t a great mindset. So I share some useful ideas for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu training. I share one of the most powerful lessons I’ve gained from BJJ training and trait that many of my best students share.
