Today weโve got a question from Peter, a BJJ blue belt who was promoted after about 18 months of training.
He then had to take seven months off for shoulder surgery and has been back on the mats for a month now. Heโs happy to be rolling again, but heโs running into a challenge.
Before his injury, Peter was focused on developing his open guard and guard retention, but now he feels like people are blasting past his guard, and thereโs nothing he can do to stop it.
He asked whether he should focus on rebuilding his previous skills or approach his training like a white belt and start learning new skills from scratch.
Thanks for the question, Peter.
