In today’s video I go through my gym bag and show you the things I bring with me to BJJ training. This video is in response to a lot of questions I’ve gotten from a lot of White Belts in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu who are curious about what they should bring with them to training.
I include the normal stuff that you’re probably familiar with. But I also include a few things thats maybe you don’t know about or didn’t think of.
If you see me talk about the Stnky bag in the video and want to check it out. Look them up at https://stnky.us/ and use the promo code Chewjitsu at checkout for a discount.

Today’s BJJ Q&A is about a guy who’s a bit of a BJJ escape artist and he says it’s creating a problem when he travels to other gyms. Here’s what’s going on. . .
The Brazilian Jiu-jitsu student asking the question is flexible and is able to fight out of some seriously tight spots when caught in submissions. Well when he travels to other gyms, people don’t always know that he’s able to maneuver like he does and thinks that he’s just trying to avoid getting submitted and being irresponsible.
So he sends a message with a specific situation that happened during one of his Brazilian Jiu-jitsu travels and wanted to know what I’d do in the situation.
In the video I explain how to use this situation as a great training tool.
Thanks for watching the video!

In today’s video I answer a BJJ competition question where a young guy had his very 1st Brazilian Jiu-jitsu tournament and was in a situation where he had a guy in an armbar and the guy didn’t tap.
He said his opponent’s arm was crackling and popping and so he stopped instead of continuing. Because he did this the opponent came back and made the match much closer where it eventually came down to a decision.
His question is whether or not I would have broken the arm or not in competition. So in this video I explain what I would have done in similar competition situation.
Hopefully this video is helpful to you if you’re ever in a situation with a submission and you’ve gotta make a decision to break it or not.

Today’s video is the 4th part of the series I started showing a really powerful, but sneaky, armbar I use in BJJ. If you’d like to go back through the series then use the link below.
If you’d like to learn more about the series join the wait list here: https://www.chewjitsutraining.com/Arms-Race-Signup
The last part of the series I showed how to do a north south choke from the armbar position. Today I show how to setup a Kimura attack as a decoy. Basically what happens is as we attack the Kimura (which is a legitimate submission threat that you can finish anytime) the person is no longer thinking about their original arm or neck. This allows us then to transition to those submissions easier . . . if of course we decide not to finish the Kimura.
Hope you’re enjoying the armlock sequence.
And if you’d like to see more. I’ll be releasing a armlock focused submission course coming up soon. If you want more info simply keep your eyes out or sign up to my Chew Crew daily newsletter by using the link below:

Today’s Q&A comes in response to a question about what kind of work someone should do in order to keep their BJJ and MMA training going and to possibly do this kind of stuff full time. So in this video I share some stories from my experience and from one of my Black Belt’s experience that could be useful to you.
Instead of talking about a specific type of job I focus on a mindset and prioritization
Hopefully after watching the video you’ll have some ideas on what you could do but then also how you could adapt the ideas for your own life and training.
By the way, when I say 25k in sponsorships. I sort of misspoke. It’s more along the lines of over 25k in training opportunities and experiences. This number is since 2016 and is a combination of seminars (many of which I give away free to the students so they have a chance to train with high level people), flights, fees for competitions, dinners for coaches, gatherings and parties for students and even some free memberships for students who hit tough times but still wanted to train.

This is an older piece of footage of me and my buddy Nick Albin aka Chewjitsu or Chewy. He has hands down the best Jiu Jitsu channel on YouTube.
This was filmed well over a year ago now at his Jiu Jitsu academy in Louisville called Derby City Martial Arts.
Obviously Chewy is a much bigger and stronger and younger guy than me (not to mention that he still actively competes), so he’s not trying to murder me here which I really do appreciate!
I know a lot of you ask for rounds of me rolling with black belts all the time, but it’s actually kinda hard to find black belts that don’t mind having rolling footage available. So here’s an opportunity to do that, with Chewy’s permission of course. 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Black Belt vs Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt
I’m really lucky to have built some great friendships over the years through Jiu Jitsu and travelling and I really do think Chewy is just the cream of the crop. He’s a great guy, with very good technique and he’s a winner in all aspects of his life; business, Jiu Jitsu, and personal.
Hope you guys enjoy, and be sure to check out my free course on how to stop getting smashed on bottom position here: https://bmac.mykajabi.com/stopgettingcrushed

Today’s BJJ Q&A video comes from a Brown Belt who asked a question back when he was a Blue Belt competitor. Today’s question isn’t about a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu competition and more about social dynamics with being promoted in our martial art.
I explain the situation in the video about him wondering if he could have multiple BJJ coaches be involved with promoting him to a BJJ Black Belt.
In the video I share 2 stories that may be useful. 1 was where I was a part of a co-promotion. The other is situation where I have 2 students who don’t get promoted by me.
Hopefully the video helps you if you’re in a similar situation?
