Rory Van Vliet demonstrates how to do the leg drag pass giving you both the theory behind the pass and the actual steps to do it the most efficient way. This is from https://www.grapplearts.com/guardretention, the newest instructional from Grapplearts in which Rory and Stephan Kesting show you how to systematically shut down and counter all the most powerful and most popular guard passes your opponents will use to try and pass your guard.

In today’s Brazilian Jiu-jitsu technique video I show one of my favorite Butterfly Guard passes. It’s a simple guard pass that requires a bit of positioning and timing to hit properly. This video request came from my fellow bearded BJJ buddy Johnny Buck. You can watch some of our BJJ rolling videos on the channel. He sent it a question calling it a fake move and trolling me just a bit. That’s what friend’s do right?
The key to setting up this particular Butterfly Guard pass is to make sure to put your head in good position so that it forces your opponent slightly back onto their butt and causes them to be easily moved.
From their it’s a simple grip on the shoulder and knee. Again, it’s a super simple move. But if you drill it and build up the timing it becomes super effective. Even if the pass itself fails it will still cause the person to scramble for a Half Guard or possibly a Full Guard.
So if you’re looking for a Butterfly Guard pass. I hope the “Superman Pass” works for you with your BJJ training or competitions.

I’ve had a few requests for some “Big Guy Jiu-Jitsu” techniques, and this is one of the first that always come to mind. The Sao Paulo pass, popularized by Roberto Tozi, is a powerful pass that is perfect for a smashy BJJ game.
•
Don’t be fooled though, this isn’t just a pass for big, heavy players. I personally like to do this pass to bigger guys (although I am far from a big guy myself), as they tend to not like being folded and smashed the way this pass happens.
•
So, whether you’re a big or small person, I hope you get some usefulness out of this pass. Let me know what you think. Thanks for watching!

This Fit to Fight Republic®️ video features me showing one of my favorite Hail Mary techniques, the baseball bat choke from the bottom. This deceptive choke is a powerful tool when you realize your guard is inevitably passed. It works in conjunction with your framing defense preceding it, and sometimes even people who see it coming will still get caught too far in to defend it. I hope you like it.
Check out Fit to Fight®️ on Facebook and Instagram for more great tips, techniques and workouts.

Very similar to the Rolling Kimura, the ‘Suicide Roll’ vs Half Guard lands us passed the Guard and in a submission! Proper pressure is very important not to get swept.
