In this video I say “Boom” a lot…not sure why I did that. But if you count how many times I said boom, then send me an e-mail to jiujitsutherapist@gmail.com and I will send you a free t-shift or warm up instructional.
So getting to the video, I demonstrate the versatility of the Brabo Grip. I love using this grip to break and control posture, slow down an opponent, and of course submit them using this grip. I demonstrate an X Choke as well as an arm bar that can be utilized from the bottom of closed guard. These are super easy and low risk submissions.
Let me know your thoughts and what else you would like to see me cover in another video!

It is better to train 2 x per week for 10 years or 2 x per day for 3 years?
This is an interesting question and it really depends on your goals, intentions for training, age, and numerous other factors. I am an example of someone who has trained 2-3 x per week for over 10 years (over 15 years at this point).
I share some of my ideas on training frequency and some ideas on longevity in BJJ.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Use your lapel to his this choke!
by
Gary Berger
If you’re dealing with a stubborn opponent that is playing very defensive and you’re having a tough time getting a submission, this sneaky choke using you own lapel can help get you a sneaky submission or at least set up an opening for an attack.
Hope this helps!
And don’t forget that my new Knee Rehab Course just dropped and is available for 20% off with code 20OFF.

In this video, I answer a question from a 1 Stripe BJJ Blue Belt. He switched gyms and his new gym doesn’t do stripes, so he is asking whether he should keep the stripe on his belt or give it up?
I had a similar situation when I started at my current gym. I received a Green Belt *typically used for teens), however, at my old gym, the Green Belt was the equivalent of a 2-Stripe White Belt.
Check out the video to see what I did and what I recommend this 1-Stripe Blue Belt does.

In this video one of my buddies and tough Purple Belts, Dakota, shows a slight calf slicer counter to a straight ankle lock. This is a quick and effective submission which can also be utilized as a pass straight into mount.

The big toe is vital for mobility, balance, and explosiveness on the mats. Here are some ideas that can help with reducing injury and improving resiliency.

I was having a conversation with one of my training partners. He is a blue belt in BJJ and getting tough, but he was telling that he hasn’t been able to get to the gym as often and feels he isn’t making much improvement.
So I asked him a simple question…what are you doing besides training to improve your BJJ?
As we got into the conversation, I started to share some ideas that I have implemented throughout my years of training that could help improve his grappling without being directly on the mats training.
