http://teachmegrappling.com This video demonstrates a technique I call the “Finger Break”. It isn’t a break on the fingers but more of the wrist when they control your choke arm with two hands. It should get you many more RNCs! Check out the details and you are sure to find something useful! Enjoy! If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please comment below. This collaboration video shows some technical details and concepts for defending and escaping the headlock. First, Professors Eddie Kone & James Gregory in London show things from inside the academy. Then, Professor Jared Jessup and I show some considerations for this in a street environment.
Big thanks for Eddie Kone, James Gregory, Jared Jessup and Paulo Rubio!

A man suspected of burglarizing a City Heights home on Monday likely regretted his decision after a resident — who happens to also be an experienced mixed martial arts fighter — spotted him and took him down.
A video of the incident, recorded by a neighbor, had been viewed more than 86,000 times as of 7 p.m. Monday.
Sergio Hernandez and his father had just returned from a trip to a mechanic when he spotted a stranger in the backyard of their 40th Street property.
“It was shocking,” Hernandez said. “He was just standing there, inside my yard.”

When I was first started doing tournaments I had a really good closed guard game but my open guard really sucked. My instructor (also a lanky grappler) told me to start using the de La Riva years later I realized he was teaching me to use my length against people and the de La Riva is great for grapplers with longer limbs.
You can still use this as a shorter grappler but it is much easier to tangle people up and maneuver around with longer legs.
Today’s drill is simple when you get to this position people are going to try and pass by shoving your leg down. Simply cross your feet like you are in guard keep your legs tight and take them to the side. Worst comes to worse they don’t square back up so you go back to closed guard or attack some submissions. If they do square up it makes for an easy sweep by going the opposite way and using their momentum.
You can use a cross collar grip or sleeve grip from this position but I usually always control the ankle to stop them from moving to fast.
P.S. no liabilities

Do you like Mount or Side Control Better in BJJ?
This is the question I got from Shay who feels better from Cross Side / Side Control or whatever you call it. But he wants to be better from Mount.
In this video I start by sharing how I prefer and preferred Side Control in BJJ as it was very natural for me coming from Wrestling.
After that I share 2 of my favorite tips for building a stronger Mount in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
Both of these tips have made my Mount position better for Brazilian Jiujitsu and have also helped a number of my students.
In both tips if you pay attention you’ll notice that I’m dealing with the Bridge. Which is the primary means for most people to knock me off balance.
By taking away the bridge or by adjusting to it. I can make sure take away one of their best ways to off balance me and leaves me able to finish my attack on them.
I hope this video helps with your Mount position in BJJ.
