This is some video footage of when Nick Albin, aka Chewy from @chewjitsu and I had a chance to train together. We got to exchange ideas, explore technical considerations and roll around a little bit.
•
This flow roll allows us the pace to work through positions and submission opportunities without trying to maul each other and to move at a learning speed. Also, I want everyone to understand that I realize Chewy was being very nice to me and not gunning for so many opportunities he had to catch me. But this roll wasn’t about that for either of us, which immediately earned my respect for him on a whole new level. He is a fantastic dude that I truly can’t say enough good about.

This is a slow step by step tutorial of what my school calls The Knot. #GordonRyan landed a reaping #heelhook at #ADCC2019 but very quickly. This is for #BJJ students learning it the 1st time

There are lots of great instructional resources for entries and entanglements, but I have had several requests from people who have very little experience with these submissions, asking for a breakdown of the basics. So this video explores some basic, essential and fundamental areas of the leg attack game.
•
Filmed on location at BJJ Fanatics headquarters, this video was made after Jared Jessup and I completed filming on two new instructionals that will be released soon. One will be exploring the potential use of applying gi-based chokes using street clothing for self defense. The other is a deep dive into the five crucial considerations (techniques and concepts) from the main positions of the positional hierarchy.
•
We would like to thank BJJ Fanatics for the hospitality and opportunity. Stay tuned for more info on those resources and check out my first one “Jiu-Jitsu Based Self Defense Solutions” available now at https://tinyurl.com/stef4za

CJJ Worlds is approaching quickly, and on November 23 we will crown a new Middleweight Champion!
As we prepare for the big event on UFC Fight Pass, let’s take a look at one of the favorites to push through his side of the bracket, Dan Martinez.
In this video, Brandon Mccaghren breaks down and analyzes his beautiful Heel Hook entry finish against Sergio Rios at EBI 17. This was an opening round bout in a 16 man Combat Jiu Jitsu bracket.
Martinez is a Black Belt from the Tampa, Florida area and he went all the way to the Semi Finals at EBI 17. We expect another big performance from him on November 23 in Monterrey, Mexico exclusively on UFC Fight Pass!

How to go from the bottom in a smashed Kani Basami position to the top and finish the match with a heel hook from the 411 position with the talented Oliver Taza (grab my PDF guide to leglocking positions here for free: https://www.grapplearts.com/main-positions-modern-leglocking/)
Combat Jiu Jitsu Worlds is coming up on November 23 in Monterrey, Mexico! I’m always pumped for CJJ, but having this one in Mexico is gonna make it super special!
I’m gonna be doing a series of videos breaking down some of the best moves from some of our competitors. I’m starting with Kneebar Wizard, Kyle Chambers. Kyle is a 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Black Belt and is known for his ultra unorthodox game and wild leg lock entries.
This match is against Kevin Hughes at the 10th Planet Team Duel. Check out this entry and finish from a really creative Black Belt.
Be sure to catch Combat Jiu Jitsu Worlds, November 23 on UFC Fight Pass!

This video shows some of my favorite sneaky arm locks that tend to surprise people from time to time. These are either unconventional or difficult to defend even when they see they are being set up. I included several positions, even though nearly every position has multiple ones that would fit this theme.
Included among these are:
– S-Mount Double Attack
– Kesa Double Arm Lock
– Head Hook Arm Lock from Guard
– Dead Orchard from Rubber Guard
– Rolling Arm Lock from Turtle
– Overhook Arm Lock from Back Mount
Let me know some of your favorite sneak attacks in the comments.

The Inside Heel Hook (or sometimes called the Reverse Heel Hook) is arguably the most powerful leg lock submission in all of Jiu Jitsu. This technique is not new to grappling, but there has been a TON of innovation around it in the last few years; most of which has been spearheaded by John Danaher and his DDS crew from Renzo Gracie New York. So, they deserve a lot of the credit for this.
In this video, I ( Brandon Mccaghren ) give a demo and briefly discusse the finishing mechanics for the Inside Heel Hook and I will teach you one of the most common rookie mistakes he see when people attempt this submission. It’s not uncommon to see even Black Belt and Brown Belt BJJ practitioners make this mistake!
The leg entanglement position in the video has several names; in 10th Planet it’s called Honey Hole. It is also called 411, Cross Ashi, The Saddle, Inside Senkaku and who knows what else. The name doesn’t matter that much. Just focus on the technical details.
As always, thank you so much for watching. It means the world to me. I hope this content is helping you. If so, let me know in the comments.
