This Brabo Choke is a fantastic option from the Full Guard in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

The Brabo Grip itself is excellent for posture and Full Guard control. And it leads to numerous sweeps and submissions.

I often show the Brabo grip early on to my White Belts because it’s strength can often be helpful for a newcomer to BJJ who wouldn’t mind a little added control.

In this video I’m not going off a viewer request. Instead, I wanted to simply show you a nice Brazilian Jiujitsu technique that might be useful for your game.

As you’ll see in the video. I show the basics of how to open up the Gi to achieve the grip. Then discuss how to setup the choke or use it for positional dominance.

I hope that the technique helps you with your Full Guard submission game in BJJ.

I remember Kyle first teaching me this move. I was laughing at him showing it. I think I was like 14. I was thinking wow this looks ridiculous no way it works.

So I tired it out because turtle was one of my favorite positions at the time. It worked! I thought hm maybe just luck. So I tried again and again. I was hitting it all the time. I started doing it in tournaments and every time the person wouldn’t move on me.

I actually forgot about this technique and I’m just now getting back to using it.

We had same color kimonos on so I picked a technique that didn’t require as much movement so it’s easier to comprehend and see grips.

A common problem in throwing is when an opponent stiff arms you, especially if he is pushing against your hip. This application of Uchi Mata is useful for such situations. A very common counter to the Drop Seio Nage is for the person to sprawl out to your side to take away the power of the throw and to potentially even take your back.
Here is a way to finish the throw when they do this.
