Dima Murovanni explains why not every BJJ instructor is a coach.
by
Gary Berger
Dima Murovanni is one of the most popular European Jiu-Jitsu coaches right now and he has coached multiple ADCC Trials winners across 2023 and 2024. Dima also served as the head coach for B-Team Jiu-Jitsu during their training camp for CJI and ADCC 2024, and will be returning to run more in 2025.
Jits Magazine spoke to Dima about how he first got started in the sport, and his chance encounter with Jozef Chen that ultimately led to him diving into coaching. He also shared some insight into how he structured that training camp for ADCC 2024 and CJI, and explained his emphasis on heart-rate monitoring. Dima also evaluated the amazing performances of Nicky and Jacob Rodriguez, and broke down his new style of passing; Rumble passing.

Dante Leon shares his thoughts on the level of talent at ONE Championship.

Today, we have an anonymous question from a viewer who was reportedly bullied by a BJJ Brown Belt.
The viewer shares a story about rolling during class, where the group circles around a set of grapplers.
Bob, a White Belt who’s been training for 6 months, gets put in a wrist lock and taps. Despite Bob tapping, the Brown Belt insists on continuing the roll and forces Bob into another round.
During this second round, the Brown Belt slams Bob’s wrist, causing him excruciating pain. Bob screams to stop the roll, but it continues.
Afterward, Bob talks to a Blue Belt, who confirms that the Brown Belt’s behavior wasn’t normal and that he’s known to be mean. Bob now wonders if he should leave the gym or if there’s a way to avoid rolling with this Brown Belt in the future.
In this video, I’ll share a similar experience and offer advice to Bob about how to handle this situation.
I hope you find this video helpful.
Thanks for watching!

The Sugar Hold is a variation of the Mount Position (that I originally learned from some old Catch Wrestling books) that gives you total control. It’s one of my favorite ways to dominate in BJJ, whether you’re setting up strikes, submissions, or taking the back. This clip is straight out of my instructional, Mount Dominance, and I wanted to share it with you because it’s such a game-changer and it’s way more accessible than you may realize.
If you’re into keeping things fun, yet still effective on the mats, this one’s for you.
🔥 **Exclusive Deal: Get the full Mount Dominance instructional for just $49 (normally $129)!
