TESTIMONIALS
‘Started hitting the moves laid out in these courses the very next class…extremely uplifting to have such a quick improvement in my game’ – Houston, TX
‘I’m the only white belt in the academy doing these moves…I’m suddenly competing at a blue belt and above level…thanks Coach Tom’ – LA, California
‘Some of the best strategies you are going to see for control and submission’ – London, UK
‘The detailed way Prof Tom breaks down his moves into the absolute essentials is just next level for me. This is absolute gold‘ – Sydney, Australia
‘Most of the guys at my Academy, have about 60lbs on me, but since purchasing your ‘Kimura Attack system’ and ’14 days’ everything has changed. I feel much more confident, roll better and the guys on the mat have commented on the same. Thanks, Coach Tom’ – Dallas, TX
‘I know you have your names for your courses, but I’ve renamed them the ‘Zero to hero’ courses, I went from getting constantly owned, to now being completely dominant on the mat in no time at all’ – San Diego, California
‘I use the course material heaps, and just recently put it into action at a local comp, walked away with double gold. No one was more surprised than me! – Miami, Florida
‘As a new white belt, these classes have helped me so much, Prof Tom’s technique, the details, and his attitude. I love how Prof. Tom shows the ‘mistakes people make’ and then shows the correct way of doing things. The only one I have ever seen do this’ – New York, New York
Great videos, great instruction. I just watch them for hours…Melbourne, Australia
‘The instructional saved me big time at a recent comp, my opponent was def more experienced, but that was ok, coz I had Prof Tom’s video in my brain. Nailed it and scored gold’ – Colorado, Denver
‘All of it. Everything you show in your awesome videos are now my ‘go to techniques’. Thanks for your vids Prof, Tom’ – Houston, TX
‘You really have to watch every second of the video because Prof, Tom drops these little nuggets of gold throughout the course. And they make ALL the difference. The only one doing this. Keep them coming Professor’ – NY, New York
‘If I could only be taught from one person, Prof Tom would be it. I can’t wait to train in person one day’ – Dallas, TX
‘Went to a recent competition with these videos fresh in my mind. I knew I had an edge and the confidence this gave me was unreal. Got the gold. All submission wins! – LA, California

In class recently I was teaching what my BJJ students and I jokingly call the Spoon Choke. Which is just a rear naked choke that ends in the “spoon” position you might be in with a your significant other. And one of my White Belts asked a good question. Is position before submission a myth?
She asked this because the position we were attacking from is not part of the Big 3 most commonly awarded points in competition and focused on during training. These Brazilian Jiu-jitsu positions being Mount, Back Mount and Side Control with Knee On Belly being used as well.
I told her that position before submission is not a myth. Our ability to dominate position gives us the ability to control our opponents effectively and setup a submission with predictable effectiveness.
That said, there are submissions everywhere in Brazilian Jiujitsu and they don’t happen only after you gain dominant position.
In fact, for me one of the things I’ve found that has been helpful for back mount is by attacking the submission early, even before I establish the hooks and everything.
I still have dominant position even if it’s not the normal positions we are accustomed to.
By doing this I catch the person off guard while they’re fighting for position and I am able to secure the submission.
Check out the idea and maybe it will be useful to you.

While up in Boston this weekend and earlier this week, Jared Jessup (2nd Degree RGJJN Black Belt) and I made this video in response to several requests about dealing with an aggressive person shoving you in the moments preceding a potential fight.
This is somewhere between a preemptive move and a responsive one. Hope you get some ideas from it and go train it!
Be sure to look for some amazing new content coming from Budo Brothers and from BJJ Fanatics (check out their channels)

Never be the dog chasing the car. Getting to the back mount is awesome, but not if you can’t maintain it or hit a submission. This video offers some of the most valuable tips for controlling the back mount position, tricks for setting up conventional subs and also some non-conventional ones people don’t always see coming.
Please check out Patreon.com/KnightJiuJitsu where I put a ton of videos from the classes I teach. It is easily the best value for the price and the amount that I upload.

It is hard to narrow down, but these are, in my opinion, the first five submissions you should learn in Jiu-Jitsu. I based this on the criteria of versatility, efficiency, mechanics and principles. There are so many important considerations to make in regard to position and setup, but it is imperative you understand how these particular techniques work.
Let me know what your top five would be, and if you have any questions you think I might be able to help with. I really appreciate you watching, liking and subscribing!
