During a recent seminar, Mirco Wendt (Head Coach of my Affiliate in Schwerte, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Schwerte) was asking me to review a couple defenses to being caught in a headlock against a wall.
This is just a quick review but I hope it helps.

It’s sad that it had to get this bad before it got better, but we’re honored to be part of the solution. Each State in America has its own Commission that oversees Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST). The fact that 38 states have approved GST (Gracie Survival Tactics) as a state-backed defensive tactics program is the HUGE sign that the tide is turning in law enforcement. We had tried for over 20 years to get these approvals, and were denied every time. The fact that all 38 states approved us in less than 6 months means they recognize two things: 1) The days of sending disastrously undertrained cops to enforce the law must come to an end, and 2) The non-violent and deescalatory techniques of jiu-jitsu are the future of law enforcement. 🙏🏼

Recently I had a bunch of people ask about my warm up routine before BJJ competitions. This came about after some videos where I mentioned having a good warm up before matches is probably 1 of the most important things for performance that you can do on the day of the competition.
In this video I’ll give you a general idea of what I do the day of competitions from the moment I arrive to the venue to the moments in between matches.
Now there are lots of ways to warm up for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu competitions. This is my way of doing it. If you plan on competing, try some of the ideas out and see which ones work for you.
The video is a little longer, but I wanted it to be as useful as possible for someone getting ready for a Jiu-jitsu competition or match.
Anyways, I hope the video is helpful to you in your next BJJ competition and thanks for watching.

MALIBU JIU JITSU.
MESTRE DE JIU JITSU FAIXA CORAL.
In today’s Bjj technique video I show you 4 fundamental full guard sweeps that every White Belt should learn as early as possible. I call them fundamental sweeps because they’re essential techniques that have useful movements which can be used in a myriad of positions in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. And I say that every BJJ White Belt should learn them early because they can be used to setup combos and other attacks that will serve them well until they’re a Black Belt.
For instance the scissor sweep is a good basic sweep that is great for learning to open your guard and progress to open guards later on in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The bump sweep is great as a sweep but also is incredibly effective off-balancing technique that can lead to lots of other options in Brazilian Jiujitsu. And each closed guard sweep in this video has the same qualities to it.
Hope the video is useful to you and your training.
Thanks for watching.

Something I preach all the time is that if you can’t defend strikes from the Guard, then you don’t have a guard.
Period.
It doesn’t matter all the cool moves you know if you can’t defend and stay safe from the single most common attack there is: punches.
Here, Mirco Wendt, Head Coach at Brazilian jiu-jitsu Schwerte shows how to defend strikes from the Closed Guard and then transition to the Vale Tudo Guard.
He follows up with a Tripod Sweep for when the opponent tries to stand up and escape.
