This remarkable footage from 1912 showcases a jiu-jitsu demonstration by Takisaburo Tobari and Taro Miyake—two contemporaries of Mitsuyo Maeda, the man who brought jiu-jitsu to Brazil.

Watching this early newsreel gives us a rare glimpse into the techniques and drills that may have influenced Carlos Gracie and the foundation of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the 1920s.
