Brown-Belt/Adult/Male/Heavy – Eliminator

This is how I like to set up my armbars. It has been working for me for years!

I am known for my triangle game but I also have a high finish rate on the armbar from closed guard.

I think the key is drilling that repetition of getting in the correct finishing position every time. The armbar takes some speed and timing to be effect.

Keep in mind my hand grips can differ. Just do what feels best for you. Double up on the wrist or go one high one low for transitions.

The Shotgun Armbar is one of the quickest, tightest, and most dangerous Armbars in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
It’s usually performed from the Knee on Belly position, when your opponent starts pushing you away to relieve the pressure of that uncomfortable BJJ position.
Please be careful when doing this Armbar… you can definitely hurt your partner if you are not able to control your body properly… so please pay attention to the safety instructions in the video.

One of my favorite traps or kill zones in BJJ is the Triangle Crucifix. In this video I show how to escape the Kimura Trap and get to strangling your opponent!

Today’s Q&A question comes from our friend who is a Gracie Jiu-jitsu Brown Belt who recently had to move to a new area which doesn’t have a Gracie Jiu-jitsu gym. He said he started training at one of the local Brazilian Jiu-jitsu gyms and training is fine. That said, he says he wants to receive his Black Belt from his previous coach.

Now he’s curious as to my experience with a situation like this is where you have a new gym, new instructor but want a belt from your old coach.

In the video I talk about my ideas on the situation based upon experiences I’ve had as a coach with students who were still being promoted under other coaches and also with my own students who moved away and wanted to belted with me.

I also give some basic advice on how I would encourage our friend to proceed with the situation.
