When I reached my right hand into the collar and he countered by circling his foot in I knew he would reach for a lasso grip. So I started my lasso counter right away before he even grabbed his grip. In the slow motion you can see that he went to grab the lasso sleeve but it was too late because I already started to defend the lasso

When he went to turtle after the first pass he went to trap my arm that let me know he was going to roll over that shoulder and try to throw me over the top so as soon as he locked my arm up I put my knee behind his shoulders to help free my hand. As soon as he went to roll I jumped to take all my pressure off of him and looked for the hip control which put me in a perfect drag/stack pass position and since I had the hip I just had to lift and circle his hips away.

Seems like a lot to think about but I’ve drilled these movements and transitions alot over the years so I don’t have to stop moving to think and react to my opponent.

heres an example of the concept I taught on artofjiujitsu.com being applied in competition. @coleabatejj using the triangle lock to win a competition. his opponent was hiding the arm and staying in a position where the choke was not tight enough to make him tap. cole explored many different options until he was able to create the opportunity to end the fight.

PGF is a 13 week season consisting of:
32 players
20 games each
Top 16 make the Playoff
Playoff is a 2 day, sub only, no time limit tournament

7 points for a kill
3 points for a break
0 points for a draw
2 points for DNP (opponent did not show)
