One of the most effective Reverse De La Worm counters I’ve seen has come courtesy of Lucas Lepri.
This one takes a little bit of timing but if you do it correctly, you’ll land in a perfect position to come up into a sweep or transition into the crab ride. PLUS you look cool doing it.
We have one more day of FREE Lapel Slayer Techniques coming your way.

Here’s a way he likes to get there & how he attacks from there.
“My goal in jiu jitsu is making it to Abu Dhabi one day (adcc).” Saturday I finally have the opportunity to compete in my first ADCC competition ever!! Everyone week of competitions loves to make posts how ready they are and how good “beast” they feel 😂 so I’m not going to do that. The reason I still compete is because it fast tracks my technical progress by a billion fighting the best guys in the world every month that are literally training to help me expose weaknesses in my jiu jitsu 🙂 . If I’m not challenging myself I’m not living. Thank you everyone that supports me. I always say the same thing but it’s true. I never know the result of these matches since the competition is so great! But…. I promise I will push forward and attack every second of this match (20 minutes) and you will either see me hit a super cool tech or you will see it countered some super cool way that I want to see also 😂❤️🤷🏻♂️. #roadtoadcc .

🇧🇷 “Meu objetivo no jiu jitsu é chegar a Abu Dhabi um dia (adcc).” Se eu n to me desafiando, n to vivendo. Obrigado a todos que me apoiam. Eu sempre digo a mesma coisa, mas é vdd. Nunca sei o resultado dessas lutas pq a competição é tão grande!

Doing a conventional standing morote-seoi-nage can be quite challenging because it is hard to bring your lapel hand across. Taking a sleeve-lapel cross grip will make it that much easier for you to get the arms in place for the seoi-nage. As for the legs, doing a split hip entry will allow you to get deeply underneath uke. The cross grip combined with the split hip entry makes this a very powerful throw.

If you’ve trained with me at all you know that one of the cornerstones of my philosophy is that you have to understand the utility of a technique and how it might change when the combative reality changes.
At almost every BJJ school, techniques are taught in the context of sport grappling and almost always with an eye towards sport competition.
And, so people learn to view a technique through only one lens, which gives them a very limited understanding of the Art.
This is why BJJ people are so comfortable defining terms as best and worst without understanding those terms are useless when expanded into other conflict arenas.
This really limits practitioner’s understanding of techniques as well as their ability to effectively use them.
Knee on Belly is an exceptionally useful technique outside of just sport grappling where it is usually viewed as just “2 points.”
congratulations to our good friend @gilbert_burns durinho and his team on his win last night. our whole family was watching and cheering for you. durinho came from the same school as us, he trained at Nova Uniao in Rio and then joined us in 2006 where we were training under @ramonlemos – we were training partners since young age. In 2011 we had one of the best moments as a team where we brought home 3 black belt world titles with me, Rafa and Durinho winning our weight divisions. we were all together at @rvcasport when @vitorbelfort invited Durinho to begin his MMA career and last night we were so happy to see how he used his jiu jitsu and showed a champion’s most important skill: the ability to overcome.
in the video you can see perfect timing for the takedowns, great control on the ground using leg weave (always moving towards tge hip and over extending the opponent’s upper body) and sweeping the opponents base every-time he posted his hand on the ground to attempt a technical stand up.
jiu jitsu is amazing, when the level is similar looks like chess where simple mistakes or lack of attention can cost a lot. but when the level is not similar it looks like the less experienced person is desperately drowning.

❔Do you have this x guard sweep in your game yet?
Before sweeping your opponent, you must first off-balance them. In the video above, Margot Ciccarelli shows you a perfect example.

Kumi Kata is the standard way of gripping your training partner, but it is also a science and art when it comes to grabbing and controlling an opponent in any grappling sport that uses a jacket and a belt. This video focuses on some different ways to use your hands in Kumi Kata to control your opponent.
