Another powerful submission you can use from the cradle is what I call the Rockhold Guillotine, after Luke Rockhold who showed it to me. It’s a brutal combination of choke and crank, as you are getting folded horrificly as the choke sets in.

**Become a Beast on the Mats With These Animal Training Workouts!**
Dr YiYang Ng is a medical professional, personal trainer and BJJ brown belt. Over the past few years, he has developed his own unique take on the increasingly popular style of callisthenics known as animal movements. He has now made his training program available in the form of two workouts that can be done almost anywhere without any additional equipment.
YiYang makes these drills look easy, but trust me, when done properly, they make a tough workout that will supercharge your strength and conditioning and improve your fluidity and movement on the mats.

When passing the open guard often your opponent will put their feet in your biceps to control space. This detail of putting your wrist on their shin makes it easy to clear the foot off the bicep.

Sometimes while you are setting up your back take from the cradle, the opponent can get their arm stuck in front of your hip, preventing the back take. However, this gives you the option to attack with a nasty arm bar.

The cradle is a classic pinning technique used in wrestling, but did you know you can do all sorts of attacks for MMA and BJJ for it?
One of the easier setups is against a knee shield, which can be a pain in the butt to get around normally. However, if you lock up the cradle, which they are almost giving to you by being in a knee shield, you can easily get passed their guard with a butt flop.
Once we pass, we don’t settle down – we ramp up the pressure by tabling their leg on our hip. This then allows us to reverse the cradle, which will then make taking the back a cakewalk.
