Just because I pull guard doesn’t mean I don’t know how to wrestle when I need too. Wrestling is a very important part of grappling that you should never neglect.
Here is my favorite takedown and one that I look for all the time. It’s easy and you can catch a lot of people that don’t keep their arms in tight.

I’ve received a lot of questions. Not necessarily related to BJJ. But they come from people who follow me through Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
The question they ask is about producing content through videos, blogs, podcast, etc.
In this video I share a story from a recent email I sent out.
It was a story related to a guy who came and did a private lesson with me.
You can receive my Monday – Friday email by going to this link:
http://www.chewjitsu.net/focused-jiu-jitsu-13-page-ebook/
During our BJJ private lesson we rolled, broke down his game and then talked for a while after.
While we were talking we discussed a situation he was in related to a potential business he was thinking about getting into.
In regards to the business he says that content creation is a part of it and wanted some tips.
In this video I share a tip that I found useful in relation to my own content creation when it comes to writing blogs, making videos, podcast, etc.
It’s nothing new or magical. But I think it’s helpful. Because people seem to be focused on what they think people want to see rather than moving from a place of genuine enthusiasm.
Not a BJJ question. But I hope it’s useful to you!

Getting into the 90-90 position is very important as it is a great way to work on hip mobility necessary for general mobility and getting into certain guard positions in BJJ.
I discovered that using a wall can be both a great way to isolate the hips and limit compensation. Using these techniques as part of a cool down or accessory mobility work is crucial in providing the necessary hip motion thats needed in guard retention in BJJ.
Also, the more mobility in the hips, the better the positioning of the legs and the less stress on the knees. Better hip position equals less stress and injury to the knees.
Give this a try while performing all of the movements to comfort.
Holding 5-10 seconds per movement into external and internal hip rotations at 5 repetitions and then alternating positions and performing the other side. 2-3 sets total.

Should do you BJJ before you lift weights? That’s a question I get a lot from people who watch the channel.
In this video I share a Friday session we had at the gym. It started off with BJJ and then Joe myself and a couple of the guys went over to do a lift.
I already knew what was going to happen. I was going to be weaker.
Along with making the muscles looser which is not optimal for strength or safety when lifting. It also depletes a lot of the materials your body uses for muscle performance.
During the weight training session I share a supplement Joe and I use after really tough training sessions, especially if we have to train again soon.
And we also answer some questions from my Friday Instagram Q&A. We got a little silly with some of the cussing so if that bothers you, then you may not want to watch.
But all in all, I wouldn’t recommend doing Brazilian Jiu-jitsu before lifting.
And if you’re wondering what I typically do. I try to seperate them by several hours. Always doing lifting 1st if possible.
Hope you enjoy the video!

This video I talk about the idea of specific training from the end positions in a sequence you are developing. Often techniques have different small positions within them that are critical to master, by starting at the end first you have more efficient use of time. If you start with the beginning of a sequence but can’t even get into the end position it’s hard to develop that necessary experience to trust in the position. I have used this method of training to teach my self berimbolos, spider guard, de la Riva Guard, and all different methods of guard passing through out my career. I hope it helps and please comment if you have any questions or requests for future videos.
