Erkan and I have been reviewing the techniques for his Purple Belt Test. This is not an instructional Per Se as much as a quick reminder of the techniques so that Erkan can practice them.

The rest of the techniques will be on my Patreon.

This video covers one of the hardest passing positions to defend against – namely, when your opponent is in your half guard and switches their hips.

It becomes extremely difficult to keep their knee trapped at this point. It’s imperative that before they settle into that position, you address it.

Going to a half butterfly guard is my favourite option and one that is part of my Purple Belt Curriculum.

From this position, we can recover guard, sweep or take the back.

Suspect is thrashing the store with a shovel when the officer arrives and takes her down. She attempts to take his gun (even telling him so), and instead of using deadly force, he applies the perfect armbar and controls her until help arrives. He remains calm the whole time, and even though higher levels of force would have been justified, his training and compassion enabled him to use the lowest level of necessary force to neutralize the threat against him. He’s a legend and I can’t wait to meet him.

In my opinion BJJ should be mandatory for law enforcement.

This my friends is exactly why police officers need to train Jiu-Jitsu. The control you see by this officer a solid blue belt can do. Those who don’t train don’t realize how easy it easy to for trained individuals to control un trained individuals. If this cop didn’t train he most likely would have panicked and possibly used deadly force against this individual. Instead, he was able to control and keep everyone safe!! I am proud to have so many law enforcement training with me!
