This clip from a class I recently taught while at @kravoz in Maryland focused on back control, attacks and escapes. This particular setup for an arm wrap to armbar is a sneaky and effective submission option to combo with when attacking from the back. Full class coming soon to Patreon.com/KnightJiuJitsu.
Huge thanks to @kravoz for having me and the whole @knifecontrolconcepts crew out for the weekend. And thanks to @boomboomcheney for being my uke during this section.
This video I demonstrate a hip toss/ogoshi and then a super low risk “drop hip toss/whip over throw that an Iranian wrestler Rahman Amouzad loves to use with great success. Check out the details and you are sure to find something useful! Enjoy! If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please comment below. More videos to come! RECENT REVIEW
Keeps on Giving!
Review by Kurt F. on 3 May 2023review stating Keeps on Giving! SO I’m no where NEAR finished with Prof Bidwell’s course… keep pressing rewind. This is DENSELY packed with value. I paid full price for this gem and got everything I needed by 30 mins in, but there’s so much more. As a 55 year old Purple Belt that’s a veteran Black Belt as a striker… I appreciate Mike breaking it down for us “old folks”. Read more about review stating Keeps on Giving!
But look here… an 18 year old would be smart to pick this up too… ‘coz he won’t always be 18 but he CAN be awesome right now using these moves and concepts 🙂
Anyway, AWESOME job. Put me down for 5 stars or more. Thanks, Mike!
The Seat Belt position is a classic wrestling scramble position. You can easily get into this position off a failed body lock attempt, where your opponent attempted to counter you with a Harai Goshi (like we covered a few days ago), but you were able to let go of your body lock and post out. The Seat Belt position is a 50/50 position – either man can win under the right circumstances.
Today, we are going to cover the person with the seat belt (the tight waist around the back) and how to use it offensively. One simple solution is to simply switch to an Under Hook. The Under Hook from this position removes nearly all the Over Hook Pressure, making it easier for you to attack.
Typically, I would angle off to either go into a Front Headlock, Modified Pancake (using a far wrist grip), or stand up and look for a Far Knee Block as my opponent stands up.
