This is a fantastic footlock that is still legal at whitebelt level in competition.

Heel Hook By Dean Lister

My most successful Triangle set ups http://www.chewjitsu.net/chad-hardy-bjj/
The darce has been my second favorite Submission ever since I learned how to really make this choke work.
UsuallyI always hit this off of the cut through pass reason being I can use the head grip and pin the legs without them turning over to a double leg.
The key here is really leaning in like an uppercut and forcing your body to put a lot of pressure up towards the chest. At the same time you will need to get your clamp on the head and his will immobilized your opponent.
After the steps are completed your last move it to turn back towards the head for even more torque and pressure on the neck.
Enjoy!

This is choke that I came across while messing around with my friend Spencer. This is still in an experimental phase, but I figured I would show it to you all and let you go to town on it. 🙂
It is setup from the top half guard, and looks like a cross between a Peruvian and Japanese neck tie. I show two setups, one from the cradle and one from the reverse Kimura. Let me know your thoughts and I am open to suggestions on a better name, lol!
UPDATE: I found out my friend and catch wrestling badass Neil Melanson has used this same choke before me and calls it the German Necktie (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrWd5Y-in80). That name fits better, so I will stick with that.

Aussie Craig Jones made a name for himself at EBI 11 by reaching the semi-finals with impressive heel hook victories over EBI 2 Finalist Nathan Orchard and EBI 3 Semi-Finalist Darragh O’Conaill. In this video, Craig breaks down both of these submissions.

An easy mount escape – straight into a footlock. I love this as being mounted is a really tough spot to be in…and to turn that around into a tap is fantastically rewarding. The best news is that it can be done. I do it all the time and so do my students. Check out this video to see the details of the technique and then try it yourself on the mat. Let me know how it goes…

This is a very simple choke that used to be or often was the first choke taught from back control. It is now often not taught until much later in a student’s Jiu Jitsu journey. Still, you can learn it very easily. Just watch this video and then give it a try on the mat and let me know how you go…
